9.6.06 :: Roger Waters @ PNC Bank Arts Center

Rogers Waters is touring on his “Dark Side of the Moon” tour and made his way through Holmdel, NJ. Oddly enough, I do believe there was a full moon out in honor of the day (note: I think there was a full moon last time I saw RW at PNC too).
The show started off with some RW solo songs and Animals songs. There were also a few songs that were obviously dedicated to Syd Barrett like “Shine on you Crazy Diamond” and “Wish you were Here” with images of him on the large screens. When I saw Pink Floyd back in ’94 one of the highlights was watching the pigs blow up and fall down to the stage. During this show, the pig came out and was walked through the crowd by some balloonists and then released to float into the night sky. The pig happened to float towards the full moon and made for the start of a magical evening. After playing for a good while (maybe 45 min?) the band took a break and RW told us they would return to do Dark Side in its entirety.
Dark Side was awesome. Although it’s more of a Gilmour album than a Waters album, it was done well. A few different singers were called in and each one captured the vocals. There was also a very trippy background on the screens for people in that state of mind to enjoy.
After Dark Side, the band came back out for an encore; talk about going strong! The band ripped through some songs from The Wall and went out on a high note.
