VietNam and The Lemonheads played at Maxwell's in Hoboken (capacity 150? IT'S SMALL!)
I read an article about VietNam in Rolling Stone and was excited that they were the opening band for The Lemonheads. They were a fun mix of down south and surf rock with a kind of Kings of Leon-ish sound. And they all look like big hippies which is always fun :-)
The Lemonheads took the stage starting with "It's a shame about Ray" which turned into a 2-hour long set complete with an acoustic solo performance by Evan Dando and some rad covers including Jimi Hendrix's "The Wind Cried Mary" and a jam combination of The Velvet Undergrounds "Sunday Morning" mixed with a little "Leaving on a Jet Plane."
The bassist and drummer are old friends of my friend's boyfriend and they were tearing up the songs. The drummer was phenom and the bassist really meshed with Evan's antics.
I'm so excited I got to finally see The Lemonheads and it was at a great venue with a great vibe!
